Encontro e estratégia
Judicator Argo has a similar moveset to regular Judicator Giants, although he does not summon orange pact-bound spirits like them, and will only attack the player if they get close. Killing Argo has no benefits, as he drops nothing, only attacks the player if he gets close, and will perish on his own after some time. No matter what happens to him at the start of the battle, he will always reappear when the player is killed and retrys the fight, summoning the same three enemies again.
Two Church Guardians will be summoned by Argo during the fight: the first before the Spear is summoned, and the second when the Spear's health is lowered by 40-45 percent. They have access to Church Guardian Shivs, which they use rather liberally to harass the player from a distance. When damaged or when damaging the Spear, they'll be able to use the Great Heal miracle to restore their own health and that of the main boss, making it so that the fight can be potentially prolonged. Due to their humanoid build, they can be parried and riposted by the player. They are weak against Frost, Lightning, Fire and resistant against Bleed, Poison/Toxic. They also can't be rapported or allured. Vow of Silence is helpful while facing them, as it will block their healing miracle. Unless killed, they will remain alive until the Spear's death, at which point they die automatically.
There is no single strategy against a Spear of the Church, as the builds and approaches differ from player to player. One must be prepared for the gimmicks unique to the fight though, as the summoned enemy will always have increased defenses, as well as projectiles of light that will occasionally appear above them automatically and aim for the player while turning into the shape of a spear tip, working similarly to the Homing Soulmass sorcery. The more summons the player has, the more frequently these bullets of light will appear. Other tools at their disposal are the Ritual Spear Fragment and its upgrade, the Divine Spear Fragment, an item granted only to those who achive the top rank in their covenant. Both items spawn a row of spears of light that thrust upwards from the ground and leave a sort of electrified trail. As a way to help the player, Spears of the Church cannot use their Estus Flasks to heal, but can still cast healing miracles, or get healed by the Church Guardians.
If Halflight is summoned instead of a player, he functions similarly to one, also benefiting from the special light projectiles. He cycles through three stances: in the first one, he wields his Frayed Blade in the right hand and the Knight Shield in the other. When like this, he'll be more inclined to parry and reposte the player for quite a lot of damage, but the player is allowed to try the same with him too. In the second one, he dual-wields the Frayed Blade, preferring to use his Hold skill, sending dark shockwaves from a safe distance. When he runs away from the player he will replace his Knight Shield with the White Birch Bow, dual-wielding it to fire at the player from afar. Lastly, he will make frequent use of the Ritual Spear Fragment, especially when at a certain distance from the player.
